The Government of Morelos, SDEyT, and CCyTEM held at UAEM the Institutional Meeting: IMPI Call 2025, Intellectual Property, and STS Perspectives in Morelos, to boost patents, utility models, and industrial designs, and to showcase local talent in international forums. The event featured Jaime Arau Roffiel (CCyTEM), Santiago Nieto Castillo (IMPI), and Eulalia Méndez Monroy (IMPI Patents).

What Does the IMPI Call 2025 Include?

The IMPI Prize for Mexican Innovation 2025 runs from April 26 to October 30, 2025 (11:59 p.m., Mexico City time). The call requires having a file opened with IMPI and awards MXN $250,000 to first place in defined categories.

Categories and Focus

The categories cover protectable inventions (patents, utility models, industrial designs) as well as strategic areas such as health, environment/water, semiconductors, and electromobility, with slots dedicated to young people and women innovators.

STS Latam & Caribbean: An International Showcase

The STS forum is a global network connecting science, technology, industry, and public policy. Its conference for Latin America and the Caribbean serves as a platform for alliances and regional visibility for R&D projects originating in Mexico, including Morelos.

Quick Checklist to Apply with an Edge

Mistakes That Could Cost You the Prize (or the Patent)

  • Disclosing before filing.
  • Weak or overly narrow claims.
  • Lack of experimental traceability.
  • Misalignment between IP and business/market.
