Our Managing Director is an IP Attorney with a strong academic and professional background:

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Mr. Merida obtained his law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) 2002 with honours and a specialisation in Commercial law.

He also obtained his law degree at the University Abat Oliba CEU, Barcelona, Spain and was admitted to practice law.

He is currently a member of the Madrid Bar Association.

He studied the Master in Advanced Studies of Sport Administration and Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, 2008, Switzerland.

He took part in the Postgraduate in Patents and Registration of Pharmaceuticals at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Barcelona, Spain, 2005.

He is Masters in Intellectual Property and Information Society law, “Magister Lvcentinvs” from the University of Alicante, Spain, 2003.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

His professional activity has developed across several key disciplines. Notable areas include Notarial Law and Public International Law, where he served as Research Assistant at the Legal Research Institute of UNAM for three years. He also worked in Administrative Law as an Attorney at the Superior Audit Office of the Federation.

He worked for over eight years at two of the most prestigious Industrial Property firms in Spain. Additionally, he has been a specialist attorney in Industrial Property in Mexico for several years. He is a specialist in Community matters (Europe) regarding industrial property. His main expertise deals with Intellectual Property issues, i.e. prosecution and litigation.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS AND LIDERSHIP

His experience includes collaborations as an external consultant for the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was also a volunteer collaborator in the Legal and Marketing Department of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Switzerland, during Euro 2008 in Switzerland-Austria.

He is recognised as the author of numerous articles on Industrial and Intellectual Property matters. His publications have appeared in specialised journals in Spain, Latin America and Europe, consolidating his reputation.

AREAS OF ESPECIALIZATION AND TEACHING

His professional experience is firmly focused on Industrial and Intellectual Property, Personal Data Protection Law, Sports Law and Immigration Law.

He was a Professor in the Postgraduate Division of the Faculty of Law at UNAM, Mexico’s premier academic institution. He continues to regularly write articles of legal relevance for prestigious journals in the legal field.
